Pretty clear to me that Para, Bro, and Petey were an additional Light, Medium, and Heavyweight character in addition to the 8 of each in the final.

I'd replace Baby Daisy with Paratroopa and Funky Kong with Petey.

@EndercreeperMugen if you want to know how Petey Piranha would work in a Mario Kart game look no further than Mario Kart: Double Dash!! as he and King Boo were unlockable in that game. It's kind of strange to me that they cut Petey in the first place, as he had a model and animations, and considering that Mario Kart Wii reused all of its character models and many other assets from Double Dash it doesn't make much sense. I am aware that Wii had some characters that Double Dash didn't, but at best those are model edits. Never completely new models.

@MorningFlash: They're unused, and so is Petey. It's a shame, since I think Hammer Bro would have been a nice addition, and Paratroopa could've made a strong return from Double Dash. Not sure how Petey could work, given his usual size depiction.
The worst part is they scrapped at least one of those characters to add in Baby Daisy, who they pulled right out of Miyamoto's ass, or so I presume.

When were Hammer Bros and Paratroopas in this game? I don't remember them.
