POV the only gud game for the virtual boy

@Doc von Schmeltwick tile molester works great for vb games. idk about wario but a few games have compressed graphics, so you might have to rip from savestates

@Doc von Schmeltwick I used Mednafen for ripping, you can customize it to ensure graphic fidelity.

@Ya Block Well darn it. The wiki here has no page on VB ripping, so I'm at a loss for now. I know there must be a way of extracting graphics directly from the data, since unused content has been found that way, anyone know what applications can do things like that or have an OAM viewer?

@Doc von Schmeltwick No

@Ya Block Does BizHawk have an OAM viewer or otherwise a manner of ripping graphics without screenshotting gameplay?

@Doc von Schmeltwick BizHawk

Is Red Dragon the only good emulator for ripping these games? Might make games with dynamic depth (like Mario's Tennis's opponents) difficult to rip...

@TheVengefulRevolvenant It's because the colour comes from the screens themselves, there are red LED lights and the game code controls the brightness (off = black, A, B & C) for its palette. It does have a palette order e.g. a sprite can be black,A,B,C, C,B,A,black or B,black,C,A but no colour palette for the console to use. The tech spec sheet is very hard to understand though. Originally Nintendo planned this to be in colour but the technology wasn't there at the time.
Emulators do add the red palette so it looks closer to how you look at the screen on a console but some can choose what colours to display.
It's like why most OG Game Boy rips are in black, white and grey instead of green.

why are they grey

@Loogeegee Thank you so much!
Excellent work to ALL the contributors!!
Excellent work to ALL the contributors!!

Great job! Looking forward to see the rest.

The Wario sprite sheet is pending! It'll also be getting some updates as I noticed I missed a few sprites after submitting it...

I currently have a lot of his basic movement done, including his carry sprites. I plan on keeping the powerups separate kind of like how the OG Wario Land sprite sheets do it.

@Loogeegee I am thrilled for this

I'm currently working on a Wario sprite sheet... but it's gonna take me a while.

Damn, 6 years and still no Wario

Bit of a shame Wario isn't here yet, but I guess it would be a bit time consuming. Either way Wario's sprites in this game are probably the best of the WL series so I hope someone will be on it soon.

Considering it goes against the rules, I am surprised just how many people are making requests in the comments. For the record, I am not personally ripping Wario as the only thing I have left for this sheet - which I hope to be able to do at some point - is upload the Sand Fish boss. Wario, the final boss, and the extra creatures seen outside of gameplay I did not rip and thus will not upload, someone else is welcome to do so. Sorry to disappoint but ripping from this game isn't the most straightforward thing in the world but someone with more time and skill than myself could surely do it.

Look how much longer it takes to rip Wario
