hopefully someday we get a prototype dump and get the real_ Little Mac sprited

@PGE i mean, at least with glass joe he's weak but he's someone you'd at least root for. he really just suffers from being the first boss, and so he isn't exactly a racist caricature
don flamenco is kinda stereotypical but not downright racist
meanwhile kid quick is definitely a lil weird and starts to border on racist caricature mainly because of his face, i chalked it up to stylization before but when you really think about it its kinda messed up

@Dolphman Disco Kid was actually meant to be Kid Quick at first, but got changed into a new character mid-development. Maybe his design was a bit too stereotypical in the 1984 release and they tweaked it so much they decided to make him a new character altogether (though that seems mildly suspect when compared to fellow ethnic caricatures Glass Joe and Don Flamenco).
@Mr. L Now you've got me thinking about custom sprites for the Baron of Hell in the SPC style.

FYI Bear Hugger was in the original arcade games. So were Piston Hurricane, Dragon Chan, Bald Bull, Mr. Sandman and Super Macho Man. Also I wouldn't say these guys weren't memorable. It's just that the Wii game relied too much on nostalgia for the NES game, and not the entire franchise, and it really only had one new opponent (While the other was just Donkey Kong)

I really don't agree that the characters in this game have less personality than the NES ones. Their animations are much more expressive, for one thing, and not just because of the increased graphical detail. I think people take elements from the wii game and project all that personality added to the boxers by the stellar animation and voice acting onto their nes incarnations, which are not nearly as colorful.
I think Mike Tyson being a real life boxer also gives him an unfair edge as a memorable final boss. I'd say Mr. Dream is a lot more forgettable than the Bruiser Bros.

Punch-Out Wii easily used Bear Hugger and Aran Ryan and turned them from kinda empty characters to more memorable ones!

People like this one less because the nes characters were more funny and creative for the most part. This one a lot of the characters are really shallow and or too weird. Plus the fact that mac looks different and no doc louis.

Indeed Doc, Super Punch Out is one of my favorite SNES games but its overshadowed by Mike Tyson's Punch Out and Punch Out Wii

This game has an arcade game Super Punch-Out!! Which released on 1984

There are people who have beaten the NES game and don't know this or any of the arcade games exist.
That's kinda sad.

Amazing job!

Well, that's all of em.

Aran Ryan is coming up next. I'll probably do the Bruisers and Hoy Quarlow as well, might as well finish the job...

Looks like we're down to the Bruiser Brothers, Aran Ryan, and that weird old man with the staff! Nice Work, Mr. L!

Ah... Disappointing... No Nick Bruiser? Guess I'll have to rip it myself then.
