The side and upward-facing sprites for Mario aren't entirely unused -- you can see the first frame of each when you're sent back to the start after a Game Over. Luigi's are unused, though, because for whatever reason he uses Mario's sprites, but recoloured.

Did the same for small Luigi.
Small Mario facing up (unused) was supposed to be animated, so I gave him a mirrored second frame.

Probably, but I used item codes.
Isn't it like the only way to get the anchor item, though...?
I didn't even know this one existed, but thanks for the hint. It's now on the sheet.
I see a weird yellow Toad House, but not the floating blue one that appears in-game...
