Yeah, very impressive that a 16-bit game got that many characters!

@thejohnston7 That's because of the Japanese version alone takes up most of the sheet. Not too many console games pre-PS1 era had support for kanji, back then it was mainly katakana and hiragana with some basic kanji thrown in. Partially due to the space of storing the characters and partially due to readability issues as kanji can get pretty detailed and would be hard to make out at a lower resolution. Not as much of an issue on computers due to the higher resolution and system fonts. I think that's one reason why the SNES has a hi-res mode (the menus in Trials of Mana being an example of this) and the pixel size is like it is, plus Super Mario RPG was a late SNES game it meant more ROM space and better compression techniques.
Had there been an European version (that isn't the Virtual Console version of the US ROM with a wording change), it would have been a larger sheet but alas...
