This game feels like some random guy's first experience at coding that they stopped making an effort in halfway through but was forced to finish and release anyway

what game dos this replace?

Here is not Mario because same as SNES

Does the final boss of this game come from another game or is it entirely original?

@Yawackhary good point about SMW64 using the GEMS sound engine.
Had they added the same amount of levels, hidden levels and switch palace levels as SMW (but with modifications), then there's a lot of songs from the GEMS sound driver-based games SMW64 could've also taken from: in addition to TaleSpin, Super Battle Tank, Ariel and Jeopardy, there's AAAHH! Real Monsters, Aladdin, Barbie Super Model, Batman:Revenge of the Joker, Batman Returns, Caesars Palace, Clue, Cool Spot, Dragon:The Bruce Lee Story, Duke Nukem 3D, Earthworm Jim 1 & 2, Greendog, Home Alone, Jungle Book, Jurassic Park, Kid Chameleon, Krusty's Fun House, Marko's Magic Football, Mick & Mack Global Gladiators, Monopoly, Mortal Kombat 3, NBA Jam, NBA Jam TE, NBA Hangtime, Paperboy II, Pocahontas, Ren & Stimpy:Stimpy's Invention, Scooby Doo Mystery, Shaq Fu, Bart's Nightmare, Star Trek:The Next Generation, Sylvester & Tweety in Cagey Capers, Taz-Mania, Toy Story, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Vectorman 1 & 2, Virtual Bart and Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

@Magic Mike Matei Another stage had one of themes from TaleSpin IIRC.
The developers took whatever music was in other games and not really bothered following the songs from the original game. Since it used GEMS, there is a LOT of choice that they could have stole from. (As a note: Super Mario World on that list is the Squirrel King bootleg and Super Mario 98 is also Sonic Jam 6, SMW 64 isn't on the list). Usually bootlegs use the Data East High Seas Havoc or the Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair sound engines but at least try to do original songs, even the covers at least are rearranged... This means that this game is worse than most bootlegs in sound since the GEMS sound engine to put it lightly is kind of crap with a few highlights (not as bad as Sound Images or Steve Hayes [EA Marble Madness, Lotus Turbo Challenge] though, those hurt your ears)...

One of the stages from the Vanilla Lake world had the Jeopardy theme.

@Dckh34d: SMW wasn’t amusing in the graphic part? I feel like it looks amazing, at least for pixel art.

this game litteraly shows that SMW wasnt really amusing in the graphic part, if a bootloeg genesis port looks almost the same, imagine if someone puts real effort into porting it
