@S&MG - A variety of in-program tools when I have the games active, particularly Gens' plane viewer. The more complicated and bigger backgrounds have a different methodology which results in frame-by-frame analysis if I can get and breakdown the main body of it.

The 2.5D water surface was a lot more complicated than I had anticipated when I started looking into the background - because of overwrites in the plane viewer as I ascended the background to chart the surface, it was impossible to get the full variations like I had with the final background. I have a fix in play, but it's going to take a while. For now, this is what I can happily deliver.

Note: the 'bottom' part of the background plants is actually a part of the problematic water surface. It's omitted along with the surface until the fix is complete.
