Tails got some weird treatment with these sprites. Like, most of the sprites are from Sonic 2, but he has no dark red for outlines, then there are some new ones, that look similar but ever so slightly off, like the shape of his head or his small tails, And then there is the ending sprite where Tails looks completely different, like, he's adorable, why don't the other Tails sprites look like this?

I wonder why tails is the only one to have a dash animation?
The difference between the in-game and Data Select sprites is basically down to the palette loaded, since that palette line also had to relate to Knuckles in the DS, replacing one of the grey shades with the light red - if you put the two Tails Victory poses next to each other, you'll see the shading definition difference. Sonic's DS sprite also has shading differences on the shoes.
Sonic and tails both shared the same victory and select sprite am I don’t reallly see the point of their sprites being on different corners

I just realized how his rotating sprites seem to have a different idle pose in them

@HyperSonic517 Easy, just play the Japanese version of Sonic 3.
Why is his mouth a brown-tan color? And the second frame of the victory pose looks like he has tape on his mouth.
@YoshiGa You're right. The sprite ripper for this one was Triangly, a Sonic YouTuber that makes sprite animations. Though for all I know, it's all just some weird coincidence that a person who animates sprites would rip the sprites in a way that makes it easy to animate them... at least it's accurate to the 8x8 tiles aside for the green bits
The sprites not taken from Sonic 2 always seemed a bit off... looking at it here, though, it looks like they drew the Sonic 3 Tails sprites in a different, more 3D style like Sonic's, but didn't do all of them. Whatever stopped them (probably time constraints), it would've been neat to see all of Tails' sprites remade. Oh well.
@Dolphman I think they're mainly there to just show you the full animation for easier animating, though you are right plus it saves space
@Murphmari Correct, so there's no point including them. As pointless as having left-facing sprites unless the left side's unique
I don't see the sprites from the Mushroom Hill Knuckles cutscene on here, unless they are just identical to the Cling sprites but rotated.
I think it's missing a jump animation in Blue Spheres
In the special stage, Tails' tails come from his back rather than his butt.

Part of growing up is realising that Tails' Sonic 3 sprites are just his Sonic 2 sprites but with new flying sprites and a ton of red removed
