there's other signs this is ripped from the mobile/origins version such as the palette as well as the sprites at the bottom
@MDTravis are you talking about the knuckles life icon with the yellow text ? because it does looks like it's from the mobile port

Adding onto the below comment, its capital letters are used for the "_____ zone" screens.

It's probably how the palettes would appear on a Fusion emulator under a specific option.

is it bad that i kinda think that S2's life icons are sorta cute?
It uses the brightest yellow that can be seen on some of his boss units in the game; as it is shared with the Rings and some Badniks (a common thing when looking at the palette wholesale is that the ring palette is on the same line as the Badniks'), it comes from the 'Enemy line'. Eggman's actual palette is the same as Sonic's, just without the blue part of that line.
Anyone else notice the yellow fonts (Main HUD) use the same palette as Eggman?
@shadow It probably stems from a problem in the development of the first game. They wanted to call Scrap Brain Zone "Clockwork Zone," but didn't have a W, making "Clock ork Zone." This was probably to prevent that from the get-go.
Surprised they made a full alphabet of the zone title cards.
Where are the Continue icons?
Where is the font used in the title screen? If not, then I guess there wasn't any letters made for that other than S, O, N, I,C,K,U,L and E.
