just saying somthing but should,nt the color palettes for each sheet be consistent so sonic sprites don't appear darker than others(example the animals sheet uses the same color palette as sonic and tails but appear lighter)

@JonGandee to reduce space

The walking animation from the prototype looks way smoother than the final one. Why did they get rid of it?

@MilesTheFox22 It's used for a single frame of the near-edge balance animation (the one where sonic has wide eyes and flails his arms around). If you press the opposite direction where he's facing, then let go of that direction, he uses that frame for a split second before going back to the balance animation.
The following GIF is slowed down by A LOT, to show the single frame used.

Where is this sprite used? I cannot get it to pop up in-game. https://imgur.com/a/Uk0nWOq

If you don't want them to be, open it in paint.net, go to Levels, and set the top Input value to 224.

Is it just me or are the colors kinda dark on this sheet?

@You Gotta be Joshing me
I don't, I hate that design.

@MCTravisYT This makes me wonder if they made a 3D model of the American Sonic design. Honestly, I wish there were some decent looking sprites for him.

Hm... when he's running on the spiral loops his design suddenly shifts to something similar to the AoStH or SatAM cartoons (his spikes become thinner)... Interesting...
EDIT: This still exists in Sonic 3 despite other turning sprites not having this!

i think you can, it's just a ripped sprite sheet. It says you don't need to give credit, but don't steal it, as in don't pretend it's your own sprite sheet.

can i use this? (im using it so a friend can continue doing his sonic engine sorry 4 bad english?)

sonic unuse balacne turned me edgy

Because Super Sonic has its own sheet.

hmmmmmm… looks good... WAIT! in alt palettes there is no super palette.

@EXE Technically "beta" is a commonly-misused term that means one specific thing in actuality. Like how "remix" is commonly used to denote any remake of an electronic tune, when in actuality it refers specifically to those that use the original's noises. Sorta like what SiIvagunner does.
At least Rare had the decency to re-rip sprites themselves when they compressed them to hell and back for the GBA DKC games. Goodness SEGA, for shame.

@Doc: A prototype and beta are the same thing in this situation.
Also congrats on getting your sprites used by Sega, Yawackhary. They lazily used them for fucking iMessage stickers. They forgot to remove transparent color (the green) on the sprites.

did someone noticed that the continue sprites from sonic 1 the first one has no hands!?

@AwesomeRocks Are you talking about two right from the one right over the word "unused?"
Also it was a prototype, but not necessarily the beta.

Where is the sprite for when Sonic hits a wall for the beta sprites??
