Why do certain parts of the background look like pixels blown up?

I love watching videos/playing games with the GHZ background only to see that the water is purple because the creator is too dumb to read the notes about the water being animated.

It happens more often than you think.

@I-like-Sonic-91 What program should I do? What program can I use to animate this background?

@mamadkross16 each strip scrolls at different speeds. lets say the bottom of the water is scrolling at a speed of 2, the top would be scrolling at a speed of 1 for example

@I-like-Sonic-91 Yes, but I don't know how to do it, can you explain to me exactly how to move the parts?

@mamadkross16 you move certain parts slower than others lol

Hi everyone, I'm new and I have a very big problem that I don't know how to turn this photo you took of Sonic's background into animation.

Also if I believe there is a crop tone of moving pieces for just the water alone

It still does, but it's a massive pain to break down due to the speed of the moving pieces. I'm working on updating the sheets anyway so I'll add the instructions there.

I swear the water had a parallax effect to it was well... Is it my brain messing with me or no?

@Paraemon make it neon magenta and lime, comic sans and cover 98.9% of the sheet

It still baffles me that those instructions can be overlooked like with the Minecraft thing. I wonder if I should make the text neon...

@TheBoyBlade The sheet gives directions near the palette bars in the upper left.

I think this background is very middle. It's not great, but it definitely isn't bad.

never realised just how awful this background looks. its looks like it was scaled up at some point and nobody botherd to fix it
SAWNIX Jun 4, 2023, 1:07 AM

Yeah, pretty much that. Having the background(s) as contiguous pieces removes the dynamic nature of them we see in the games, hence the break-up into parallax strips. The reason that four of them stop halfway across is because that's where their loop-points are.

@Rimbabwe The red lines separate the parallax layers.
