It's funny how when sonic makes the disintegrating emoji face when he dies, you can just barely see his eyes, making him look goofy and kinda like a pug up close

i always found this sonic design to be pretty interesting mainly because this was the only ever time it was used its a weird cross between Japanese sonic and American sonic (i also like the way the spindash looks here for some reason)

Wasn't Muttski's only non-robotic render like green or something back then though? Also, that doesn't explain the hands.
The dog is totally Muttski.
I assumed before it was Antoine, but looking closer while it's standing still, maybe not...and due to the colorations, such as Sally's pinkness, it might actually be more "early Archie"-based....while the GG version had AoStH Robotnik (and ancient Egypt special stages...)
