I think Sonic Jam 6 was before Mario 2 1998 because in that game there are unused sprites of Sonic, the funny thing is that they are from animations that are not in the final game (bounced up and walk )

@SaermonHD: Not gonna lie, I just kinda guessed there lol. From what I can tell, there doesn't seem to be any specific release date for either. BootlegGames Wiki states the ID number for Sonic Jam 6's cartridge is ES48001, while Super Mario 2 1988's is ES48002. This implies that Sonic Jam 6 was released first (or at least made first), however the unchanged Mario graphics and ending text make it hard to to tell.

I don't get why they give random numbers to the title of bootleg games. For example, instead of calling a bootleg "Sonic Mania 2", nah, let's call it "Sonic Mania 2077".

@EmRuHire Ironically, there actually was Sonic jam made for a brief period of time to promote the compilation. It was made in three flavors, each representing a certain character:

Sonic = Blueberry Jam
Tails = Orange Marmalade
Knuckles = Strawberry Jam
