Always thought these were extra lives dammit
@IAm DaBest: No, these are specifically called "Sonic Medals" in the Saturn version's manual. Like I-like-Sonic-91 mentioned, these are not extra lives -- ten of these equate to a continue, with extra lives being something you can get from monitors laying about.
