By far one of the most utilized, but misunderstood spritesheets.

fun fact: if you look really closely at the Vertical Cylindrical Structures sprites, you can see that Sonic is in his Sonic 2 appearance

@Andre-soms Those are on the Sonic 3 Sonic sheet.

The sprites of Sonic rotating vertically in Launch Base while standing still and Sonic running in diagonal cylinderical structures (Carnival Night) are missing, also the Drowning death thing

I wonder if the devs had time to fix inconsistencies with the sprites and just didn't remember to or didn't even know about their existencr

Because the palettes on those sprites are different.

@Paraemon
I think they mean the colors on the Special Stage and Ending sprites. If you remove the main shade of blue on Sonic's idle sprite, it won't remove the blue on those 2 sprite sets.

Can you send a PM to elaborate or perhaps detail what you're talking about? I've just ran my own color replacement test and can't find what you're talking about as all the blues are changed, and unless because it's nearly midnight here and I'm exhausted, I have no idea what you mean by "solid colors" or "pixels".

A lot of the colors on this sheet seem to be just barely off. Some areas of solid color, such as color palettes aren't actually solid colors, having a couple of pixels that are off by an incredibly small amount, and even when replacing colors in the regular palette with the Super or Hyper colors, many pixels in the Sprite still remain blue.

They always have been in Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles. It is likely a result of palette limitations (as the green in part of the line is used for Monitors and Knuckles' goal sign/Flickies) from back then.

uh is it me or are super sonic's eyes green
quick edit: canonically, super sonic's eyes are red, however super sonic had black eyes in sonic 2 and now he has green eyes in sonic 3. dunno if i only noticed this (likely not)

It's impressive how people just develop a grudge out of sheer nothing, not to mention the silliness of refusing to directly say a name. If anything, you've ensured that I won't be changing this now. Have a day.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what they're "supposed" to be. This was released as two separate games on two separate carts. A lot of the palette data also interacts with different sprites in different ways depending on which game you're playing. So regardless of what you believe, there's enough different behind the scenes (and the fact that they're on separate physical cartridges) to keep them separate.

IT'S THE SAME GAME! It was just split up into 2 cartridges because of a dumb McDonald's toy deal! These shouldn't even be two separate PAGES, much less two separate sheets! The idiocy of the VTuber profile pictured one is immense.

im like 90% sure that all sprites here are on the sonic 3 sonic spritesheet

That's the most idiotic excuse I've ever heard but go off i guess.

Because not all sprites appear in both games, and, after seeing some other BS this afternoon, I'm not putting information that appears in one game in the game it's not used. End of.

Why.
Why did you bother separating the sheets into two?
That just makes it inconvenient as hell when someone needs sprites from both games.

@Silverlight fixed that link for ya
