Nice to see this re-ripped. The old rips were from around 2008 and they were embarrassing... Despite using the same tools that members of Sonic Retro made at the time since it's really hard to rip anything from the 32X (not that there's much 2D wise on the addon).
Yeah, you can see how it used the Sonic Crackers sprites as a base for Mighty. No surprise that there are hacks out there to put him in Chaotix (wonder if there are any the other way around?... Mighty into Crackers).

Someone actually made a mod of Knuckles' Chaotix that replaces Mighty with Sonic a while back.
The fact that Mighty's design is similar towards Sonic's design, it make me think that Mighty could potential be an εcho fighter of Sonic.

Fact: He's just Sonic wearing a coat because he wants to fight robotnik again (that's why his poses are very similar to those seen in Sonic Crackers)
Mighty's animations from Mania took a lot more inspiration from Chaotix than I thought
