You know how many people believe that the Japanese care deeply about nature? This is a myth. In reality, Japan sees nature as just something that gets in the way of humanity's progress like most people do. It's why you see a lot of anti-nature messages in their games. Them frequently portraying cute animals as villains is a product of this.
At least this game has Mukumuku and his friends. Makes beating up those red-caped rodents a little more tolerable knowing you get your own little red-caped rodent companion.
