I for one think they did a great job, she fits with the rest of the cast artstyle-wise, sure, the color palette doesn't take Genesis/MD limitations into consideration but Origins isn't the original ROMs just modified, instead these are games recreated in the Retro Engine which doesn't have such limitations, from the get go the games aren't 100% the original thing as they include many modern changes like no lifes, widescreen, saving, etc. so making Amy look the closest to the official art while keeping an overall standard in terms of proportions and animations is the right choice.

I like how her you can distinctly tell her jump ball is smaller compared to Sonic.

@ValisEmma Knuckles sprites are all the same, and MOST of Tails' sprites are the same or extremely similar. Why bother with Amy?

@ValisEmma: I think because of time constraints or they didn't want to go through the trouble of making more sprites just for one game or something

Amy's sprites are SO odd in Origins Plus. They're not bad but they stick out the most.

@RTB: That what I thought about the sprites being used in all 4 games; it saves time and resources, (pretty much what they did with Knuckles when porting him to Sonic 1 and CD). This is something that falls into the modders hands, but it's not a huge game breaking issue.

@Louplayer: Lemme explain my thought process for that. The fact that several sprites with that issue didn't have them outside of Sonic 3 & Knuckles' sprite set implied that they weren't supposed to be like that in the first place, so "fixed" versions could be gotten from one of the other three games. It's because of which that I felt it made more sense to clean it up in general, otherwise I'd have four versions of things like the Jumping Hammer Attack (because for some reason, 1, 2, CD and 3&K all have different issues with said animation), and I wanted to keep down the redundancy. Either way, it's definitely not just 3&K with that issue, as some sprites have the same (or similar) issues across all four games (such as the continue sprites, the Twirl H from Sonic 2, and the Good Ending from Sonic 1).
Speaking of, the reason why I opted to have an all-in-one sheet for Amy instead of splitting it off per game is because it's pretty much like that in the first place for the game's files. Amy's first and second sprite sets are almost entirely identical between the four games (for S3&K, it's the top half of said sheet), and the third is almost entirely the same with a few differences depending on the game (and CD having a fourth), and include multiple animations that aren't exclusive to their games in the first place (including some meant for 3&K, like the victory animation), so making one sprite sheet per game would be redundant -- they'd literally all be the Sonic CD sprite sheet but with the CD-exclusive animations removed for 1/2.

I mean as far as palette limitations goes, Classic Amy's design just has too much color variation period. It was either break the 16-color limitation, or have it look like shit.

From what I heard (and from personal experience) , the sprites are incomplete, as it requires additional cleanup (pallete limiting, transparency, etc.). Sure, all of the animations are there and accounted for, but it was submitted either too early, or in a rush to meet a deadline. When it comes to projects like this, they often bite the bullet and ship it the way it is, leaving the modders to do it for free.
Regardless, an effort has been made, just not in the most ideal of conditions.
