@buc Incorrect. The original Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Master System had the only Silver Sonic, who appeared slightly-redesigned en masse in Sonic Mania. The one in the Genesis game is Mec(h)a Sonic. Keep old fanfic ideas out of this.

ok for clarification
metal sonic from cd is the original metal sonic and is the most famous
grey metal sonic from sonic 2 is silver sonic
metal sonic from sonic 3& knuckles is mecha sonic
grey metal sonic form the game gear is also silver sonic but a different silver sonic bu ti like to called him "game gear silver sonic"

@Domino OK then. I can't hold anything against Gallagher, his stories were just so lovably cutesy-yet-rascally.

The first use of the name Silver Sonic for that robot was in Sonic Quest #3, written by Mike Gallagher in 1996, and the robot (and all later versions) were consistently named that throughout the entire run.

@Os42 Well given the amount of time between Pocket Adventure and LEGO Dimensions, it's possible that that's not gonna happen. At the very least, I'll be happy as long as they don't try to claim it's "Silver Sonic." I believe it was Penders who initially made that mistake, though I could be wrong.

@Sanic Hodgeheg According to the Sonic level pack in Lego Dimensions, The death egg robot sonic is called "Robo Sonic". This should of course be taken with a pinch of salt, since the game is non-canon, but i expect it will be the official name starting from its next appearance.

THIS IS BETTER THAN THE WALL WITH SPIKES

ohh-ho-ho-ho, I'm going to love making sprite edits and customs with Giga Metal!

"Metal Sonic Kai," as Tailikku pointed out, is actually the generic Metal Sonic in KC, anyways. "Kai" simply means "rebuilt."
(Dagnabbit am I gonna have to start holding seminars over misnamed Sonic robots here again?)

Yes. Giga Metal is the name used within the game’s files, so that is the official name for this form.

"giga metal"?

Thanks you for the Metal Sonic Kai! :D

@Sanic
Problem is, Sonic 2 8-bit came first, and its robot was the only one ever explicitly called "Silver Sonic" outside of comics.

I think these should be the canon names for these bots so we don't cause confusion,
Sonic 2(16bit): Silver Sonic
Sonic 2(8bit/GG): Bionic Sonic/GG Silver Sonic
Sonic CD:Metal Sonic (obviously)
Sonic 3&K: Mecha Sonic..... (and knuckles)
Sonic Adventure(unused)Sonic Robot: Silver Sonic MKII
Sonic 2(16bit): Silver Sonic
Sonic 2(8bit/GG): Bionic Sonic/GG Silver Sonic
Sonic CD:Metal Sonic (obviously)
Sonic 3&K: Mecha Sonic..... (and knuckles)
Sonic Adventure(unused)Sonic Robot: Silver Sonic MKII

"Death Egg Meca Sonic" would be a cool name for the 16-Bit one.

Mecca Sonic? Does this mean Badniks all have to stop what they're doing and pray towards the Death Egg three times per day?
^This is intended to have a strikethrough, by the way, if it doesn't, then I don't know what to do, or it doesn't work for me.

Official concept art called the STH2 16-bit one "Meca Sonic".

@Tonic THANK YOU! Although the thingy in Adventure is technically unnamed, it was just called "Silver Sonic 2.0" or something in the Archie comics (despite not being, well, silver).

Sonic 2 8-bit: Silver Sonic
Sonic 2 16-bit: Mecha Sonic (Robo-Sonic by Lego Dimensions)
Sonic CD, Knuckles Chaotix & ETC: Metal Sonic
Sonic & Knuckles: Mecha Sonic
Sonic Adventure: Silver Sonic
Sonic 2 16-bit: Mecha Sonic (Robo-Sonic by Lego Dimensions)
Sonic CD, Knuckles Chaotix & ETC: Metal Sonic
Sonic & Knuckles: Mecha Sonic
Sonic Adventure: Silver Sonic

@Akira Wrongo. They one in Sonic 2 8-Bit is the Silver Sonic, while the one in Sonic 2 8-bit is Mecha Sonic. Look it up on Sonicwikia, they have sources.
