The 6.0 version had an undecorated spade in the "Ace of Spades" card
Regarding prototypes, there are bitmaps in the leaked source code for some unused card backs, notably a robot on a white background, fish on a yellow background, and a pair of "286/386" cards.
Also, to save some space on the bitmap files, the red ace to ten cards actually have red borders -- they're saved as 1 bit per pixel, with a red-white palette. The game draws its own black border on top.

That's a very nice collection of playing cards back in the old days. :)

I am always irritated by how the indices are sometimes 1 pixel off from perfect alignment (See the inverted indices of aces and the clubs+diamonds). But this is a classic and who am I to judge lol.

None of the prototypes that I've seen for this game have any differing textures. The only major difference (according to The Cutting Room Floor) is some of the wording for error messages being different.

What prototype is it? The prototypes I played didn't have any differences with the textures from this one.

There's also a prototype version with different textures. Perhaps those could be ripped?
