I am trying to fiigure out what the hell am I looking at
that's a pretty common situation when it comes to remasters. Take Rhythm Heaven Megamix for example. There were unused sprites redrawn from past games, despite them not being used at all in a prequel/sequel.
why did capcom make edgeworth's front damage sprites if they were not used in the original game anyways?

This sprite sheet seems to be missing one of the witness heads, the one where Edgeworth cocks his head up to his right and smiles. (I am making the assumption that the zoom sprites are intentionally not on this sprite sheet as they are not on Phoenix's either)
