The design actually is kind of reused for an obstacle in Super Mario Galaxy 2.
I remember seeing these the first time and was wondering what the hell they were.
These...things, which I will call "Piranha Pitchers", don't appear in any other Mario game...
Its design in this title seems somewhat unusual. The posture is similar to how it appears in SMK, but here the plant does not show its teeth or bite, the movement of its lips is as if it is exhaling and inhaling.
