@Semerl Technically speaking, all Windows 9X versions were just GUIs for MS-DOS, not operating systems, despite the general acceptance that they were operating systems.

I feel like the purpose for these os on cartridge bootlegs are probably just for practice. I also like to think of them as "McDonalds" toys in the software world.

this is a terrifyingly extensive collection of rips

I still wonder what exactly the point of this is. It's not functional in any way, and it doesn't seem like it even be useful as an educational tool.

This is still better than Mega Man 8 on Game Boy. Change my mind.

what the hell
this is genuinely amazing, even for an nes bootleg

This has got to be one of the most interesting bootleg NES games. There are, like, sooooo many NES hacks and not as many SNES or SEGA hacks.

I want to have sprites of geniue windows!

A Bootleg OS For NES? What's next, Windows XP Bootleg For Sega Genesis?

Can I use this to install NESticle on my NES so I can emulate NES games on my NES?

This is what happens if your NES suddenly turns into a CPU.

Imagine doing your work on this.
Guy 1: What OS do you use? its amazing!
Guy 2: Windows 98 o-
Guy 1: Cool!
Guy 2: I'm running Windows 98 on NES dude.
Guy 1: You are Fired!

I find it funny that this was actually made. They'll bootleg anything, I guess. Also, "Hey! Wanna buy Windows 98 for your NES? It works just like the PC version!"

Are we ever going to get rips of actual, genuine Windows?

oh boi

wait what even is this

@hacker Because bootleggers tend to be stupid, as are often their intended demographic.

Why is this even a thing in the first place?!

It is a chinese bootleg game for the famicom. It has very few features, none of which work correctly, and are only superficially similar to an actual operating system.
So in a way yes, and in most ways no.
