I used the NES manual, which had Slick and Spin talk to each other when discussing the levels. The first level's description had Spin tell Slick to "get your head on straight and I'll check out the Test Area," and said level has you play as the dummy with the wheel.
The only manual I could find that identified them by name was the Game Gear one and that how Spin being white and Slick being dark.
No I didn't, I looked up the manual and this is how the characters refer to themselves as. Even then, the name "Spin" going to the dummy that doesn't have a wheel wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.
The White Dummy is Slick and the purple one is Spin. You have their names swapped
