that overworld looks like Earthbound Beginning.. wow
lemme just put it out there that for me, the reaction from that vinesauce video is still funny to watch. however, using it as a reference?...meh, i dunno if it has much of an effect besides LOL TEH RANDOM. it's one of those funny moments that only works with its context (as in "hey lemme show you this weird video it's hilarious") and not quite as a standalone meme.
Rule of thumb in character design: If you can recognize him in any size, then the design WORKS.
