At least they had the common sense to actually make and call it a different thing. Unlike today they toss out some halfbaked nonsense slap a title and call it a Remake even tho it's 99% different from the original media and so halfbaked that cannot even 1% of it live up to the original from what it was spawned from.

I lost count how many Remakes (spinoffs) of RE2 and RE3 we got in 20 years that have nothing to do with the originals and some have almost no connection to the franchise at all ...
