i got an interesting theory, i believe that the diagonal and sideway sprites are actually the original design they going with, look at Hummer's eye it's Sonic's eye but with circle bit around it and it also look kinda unsettling, and there's also no smile at all unlike the normal upright sprites which has a giant smile while the rest is just nothing, and finally look at the unused sprite of Hummer standing sideway and compare it to the standing upright, his legs look fine in sideway but in upright wtf happen. so basically after they realize that Hummer look somewhat strange they go back to the drawing board and "fix" it, well they only change the upright sprites but nothing else bruh.

The bootleg was made in 2005, so it's actually quite creative for a (I guess, in some aspect) Sonic OC at the time
