Well it was hell because not only is it big, it sold poorly, had little of the chip needed to make the game and nearly caused the company to get bankrupt

This game must've been hell for HAL to develop, considering the size

I seen this game being ported by the community all over the place. Personally had it on a home computer (no clue what the model was, probably some DOS type) as a unofficial made translated bootleg version to Russian and English. It was on a floppy drive and cardboard sleeve with even a booklet.
Also I wouldn't be surprised if my friend still have this floppy stored somewhere since he hoards some old stuff still.
You young folks might ask why did we do this. Let me elaborate.
Contrary to today's popular belief especially from the west, reality is Nintendo was a rarity in Europe or better say in the entire world, since their systems and games were overpriced, generations behind the competition, so our alternatives were homebrew and famiclones at best. The community kept the games alive and did what companies didn't wanted, like releasing it to a certain region or bother to price it realistically since each region had it's own cost of living.
