Her description in the image you posted reads "This lovely young lady becomes Mappy's wife!" and the name is the same as well. (Mapiko/Mapico makes no difference in Japanese.) It's not his daughter.
I've only found the image of the Japanese manual from a Tumblr blog that extracts vg artworks. It seems like there's no Japanese manual scans online...
It does. No mention of a daughter anywhere. The confusion probably comes from her wearing a different outfit on the cover art.
Are you sure the JP manual there isn't calling the character depicted his wife too?
@Doc von Schmeltwick In the English manual, Mapico is the mother's name, I'm starting to have a feeling that she's referred by a different name in the Japanese version...
Is the mother in the manual as well? The picture shows differing height between her and the little boy, and the name appears to be "Mapiko," so I think the picture and the sprite show the same character.

Then why is she on the sheet?
Even though she doesn't appear in-game at all(?), Mappy has a daughter but she's not mentioned in the English manual only the Japanese manual:
