I like how this looks like a quasi-literal interpretation of how levels in RPGs relate to a characters' age, like they're literal children on the lower levels, teenagers in the mid levels and full adults at end levels
I'd say it's more Pokemon-ish than Final Fantasy-ish.

@HylianFox If I can recall, this game actually predated Final Fantasy by a few months or so. That makes it even more surprising.
As much as this game sucks, I do love how the protagonists grow as they become stronger.
