@shadowman44 goku is the name of a chinese folk lore character. @Welfz Twingo Furs and @ValisEmma in chinese folk lore goku is part man part monkey.
why did they make him a stupid ass monkey in the american version
Goku is the name of the character in Chinese mythology that Son Goku is based off... Considering how many references to that myth are in early Dragon Ball it makes sense to localize the game as an adaptation of that myth for audiences who don't know about Dragon Ball.
I like how of all the name changes they did the characters, they kept Goku's name Goku.
I think why Goku looks like that is because he was inspired by Sun Wukong.

Kinda ironic since Goku actually turns into a gigantic primate and looks less like a monkey.
Why does the american character looks so much like a monkey?
