This actually released in France with a full translation, and with the Dragon Ball license intact

I hate the US version.

@mariomaster666 Had things went the other way, Alex Kidd in Miracle World would have been the first Dragon Ball game! Epoch nabbed the rights before Sega (and also the copyright of Monster Land too hence why Wonder Boy in Monster Land was renamed on the Master System in Japan to Super Wonder Boy in Monster World and the MSX port was cancelled).
I don't think it sold that well since it was one of the last games on the console and probably why the majority of Dragon Ball games are published by Bandai/Banpresto/Bandai Namco ever since. Dragon Power was the first to be released outside of Japan and something tells me that the first that was released all over (Japan, US, Europe including the UK and Germany, Australia) was either one of the PS1 games or the one on the GBC.

@wolf14vargen14 It's the second. The first is Dragon Ball: Dragon Daihikyou on Super Cassette Vision.

This is the first dragonball game

something about this spriting style just looks great

I wonder the kids who played this game, Who later saw the anime knew this was related.

These sprites kinda remind me of Clash at Demonhead.

goku became C U R I O U S G E O R G E

LJN Defender's reasoning would explain a few titles from Bandai back then.

So they changed him into the character he's a parody of. XD

According to the LJN Defender, since Dragon Ball wasn't released on the US yet, nobody would know the source material.
Funnily enough, Goku was been modified to look like a monkey.
