It actually was localized, sort of.
There was a TG-16 entry that was called Cratermaze (that was otherwise a Doraemon game in Japan), which was adapted off the original arcade game "Kid no Hore Hore Daisakusen". The arcade version was to be called Booby Kids just like what the NES version would be called until they changed it at the last moment.

No matter how often see the name of this game (granted, that doesn't happen often at all), it never ceases to amuse me.
