Don't forget TMNT had real competition by the end with Batman, the X-Men and Spider-Man which had good writing and visuals. Also it had to compete against Fox Kids and ABC (TMNT was on CBS and that didn't have a great lineup of Saturday morning cartoons).

I don't think the decline in TMNT's popularity had anything to do with quality, they just had oversaturated the market for a solid decade. Kids wanted new shit.

@Doc von Schmeltwick I think it's because the mutant animal heroes fad was dying by that time. TMNT really hit a quick decline due to the quality of the third movie, the cartoon getting stupider until a change in tone that pretty much killed it faster and Power Rangers was the next big thing until Pokémon showed up.

Y'know
RareWare really missed an opportunity not having a 3D BattleToads on the N64 with all their other wide-gameplay titles on the system.

This game turns 30 in a couple hours. It's a momentous occasion to be sure.

Wait What happened at E3? I was sitting in a car for 6 hours straight after a day of sitting in a car for 11 hours straight due to returning home from vacation, so I have no idea.

none of that has anything to do with battletoads sprites on the nes

I wonder how GameStop's going to feel about the new Battletoads confirmed at E3 today several minutes ago...
