Same situation exists with The Battletoads, the Japanese version is much more forgiving (though still a very difficult game).
What!? That's the opposite of what usually happens with older games. I wonder why they decided to make such a change.

When people think of difficult NES games, they usually think of Double Dragon, Contra or even Castlevania. But I personally think of this game.

Jokes aside, I can't blame them for this massive difficult in games from this era. Back then the game industry was fairly new and hard arcade games were the norm.
