This is easily the most bizzare Mario-related game of all time. This whole-ass story about aliens, space, warfare, ALL while some bug exterminator is fighting a gorilla holding on to parachutes?! Not even MatPat could've explained this.

There's something needlessly ominous about these...
My theory is that these were just lying around in a dev's computer, and someone just thought they'd insert them into the game so they don't go to waste.
