2 years late but "Joe" is actually Edgar (Or Edger, depending on what you read), Joe was the yellow dude who wasn't even in this one.
I can't get over the awful sprite edit in the western title screen is. Her head is too small, is misaligned in relation with her body, and has a ridiculous fish face. Not to mention that they didn't even bother redrawing the back of Joe's suit that was originally covered by Asian Mary's hair...
It's hard for me to not see the brunette version as Alys Brangwin....
