@Fawfulthegreat64 they probably just forgot :P
Frankly's sprite in his image is actually an earlier version, where all Goombas had visible soles (Goombella has soles in many prerelease screenshots as do other Goombas, and curiously Goombella's Smash 4 trophy uses that early design). Just interesting that they forgot to re-do these prerendered shots when they decided against the soles.
