@teh_supar_hacker It's tricky... The game itself wasn't finished in its intended time. The Piko Interactive release is not licensed by Nintendo and even mentions in their description "full beta". Meaning that it's probably the closest to a complete version but may still have some bugs/unfinished bits left to do. Apparently the original programmer took the hard drive and run, literally so it might be an older version. The remaining staff even planned to make this game open source at one point.

There are a few examples of games that were finished after their consoles became irrelevant and technically not licensable (Nightmare Busters) or were released but not on their intended consoles (Star Fox 2, Ultracore). Anyway the Piko release is aftermarket and since the original publisher dropped out, it might even be homebrew.

I'll probably still class this as a prototype even if it's more finished than the other one that was online.

If it was never officially released for the platform, we still refer to it as a prototype. Earthbound Beginnings was only released on Virtual Console, not for the original NES hardware.

@teh_supar_hackr Honestly, I'm not sure. EarthBound Beginnings is still marked as a prototype even though it got officially released a few years back.

Would this still count as a proto if assets from the Pico Interactive release were added here? Asking since that version effectively finished the game, adding new features that was planned.
