When it means DO NOT STEAL, it means that people in the past (and sadly still do in some cases) have stolen sprite rips and uploaded them as their own. Whether on here, Sprite Database, MFGG or other places. Believe it or not, it happens quite a bit especially when it comes to fighting games but have seen that happen even with customs. Customs being the one thing that you should really credit the original person.
