@fnf_fan_9999 The dark backgrounds are used to denote sprites in an animation that have already been displayed on the sheet. for example, the running victory animation begins with three sprites that are used as part of the normal running animation, so those frames are given the dark background to show that they are the same. It helps cut down on potential confusion when someone's planning on using these for things like ROM hacks and the like.

what's the differences between the sprites with the normal background and the dark colored one?

sonic in his idle animation is like he's saying "hey, up there"

@AnNormalSonicFan
You have to find the hidden Special Springs. Here's the location of 2 of them.
1st: Neo Green Hill Zone - Act 1: Right before reaching the goal there's a yellow spring on top of the wall where you can run on. Bounce on it, go to the right, and, if you're lucky and got the timing right, and you'll land on a platform. Wait for the platform to go up and there it is!
2nd: Secret Base Zone - Act 2: You should take the top routes as much as possible. Eventually, you'll find a loop with the spring on top of it (Be careful!! Don't go too fast, or you'll grab the zipline and will not be able to come back!). After that, you'll use the springs and bouncy platforms to reach the Special Stage.
Ughh I'm lazy to finish this. Go to Sonic Wiki or something idk

Wait There Are Special Stages?! Man HOW THE F*CK I ENTER

MAN this sheet got a HUGE revamp

i am endlessly grateful for the advance sprites being reripped

Figured these would be reripped sometime.

I spy a rerip!

@ActionKingfisher I really don't think Kevin Huff had GameMaker users in mind when he ripped this, especially considering how old this sheet is, this must've been ripped around the time of GameMaker 4 or something... Also I agree with Tsukiru, it's not very hard to figure out the alignment of the sprites

sock

huh so these are the sprites used in every flash animation ever
None of them are even but also it's not very hard to figure out how to align them?

I'm pretty sure this was meant for GameMaker users since they can import this as a "strip image".

Why would them not being aligned to a grid make them useless? That makes no sense. I can use them just fine lol

These animations don't seem like they're aligned to a grid at all, making them pretty much useless.

Dreamcast Sonic sprites basically nice

Thank you so much, Tailikku.

I used to see these sprites and think "oh, some old overused sprites of the modern characters" but after playing a bit of the Sonic Advance Revamped fangame as well as a bit of the Japanese Android port now I think I finally see the appeal of it.

now a PNG
