Well to be fair, all they had to go with was "He's fast and has an attitude," they just took his attitude and blew it was out of proportion.
I dunno I liked sonics personality being more of a jerk, since it made him more flawed of a character and actually made more sense than most other interpretations at the time. Also Sonic seeing tails being tossed down a pit only to say "You can fly you idiot!" felt like every Sonic players reaction to their tails playing friend.
One of the main problems with StC was how they made Sonic a complete asshole.

Yeah, too bad they usually only used them once, except for the core group of Freedom Fighters, Robotnik's top forces, the pirates, the Drakons, and a few rare others, like Knuckles and Dr. Zackary.....honestly, there's so much wasted character potential in that series, which is what happens when your staff is so varies and cares little of continuity (except for Shortfuse's backstory). The same badnik might have 20 different designs, for example. At least Ian Flynn of the Archie comics TRIED to reuse as many non-deceased characters as he could.

To be fair, I did not expect such an obscure character from the fleetway comics to get a custom sheet at all...
