"I am actually working on a Knuckles SMM sheet, but with scaled-down sprites, similar to the original Sonic costume. (...but with running sprites that make sense)" @Mr. Porkchop, Knuckles actually has chibi sprites in Sonic Mania, why not use those in this style?

@Random Talking Bush i feel fine with the original ones.

@Depressed Mario: No need for the hostility, but either way the sprites that are actually in Super Mario Maker are oddly-scaled-down Genesis ones, whereas these ones are based off of the mini-Sonic which fits in more stylistically.

IT'S CUTE!!!

nice

Hopefully the appeal for Knuckles will be what I think it is.

Actually, I have no intentions for a Boom Sonic sheet, sorry if I misled anyone.
...It would be too tall anyway...

Looking great dude! Whether ripped or original, I love the Mania palette. The way the colors pop out works great for a sprite like this.
Looks like Sonic got a skinny mushroom in the bottom right there...

I'm gonna regret saying this but I think a Sonic Boom version may be soon

Weird, the revision didn't show up, and now the sheet is just stretched...? is this only happening for me, or is anyone else seeing the updated sheet?
EDIT: Just refreshed, the update came up. My bad!

Already, this is much better than the shrunk Sonic 1 sprite design they put into the game.

Hot damn! Mini Sonic style sprites are heavily underrated, good job!

Oh, wow, I wasn't sure this would actually be accepted!
Thanks for the feedback! I completely understand the issues with the shading, or lack thereof; I was going for a look similar to (most of) the Mario series costumes (I'm looking at you, Metal/Gold Mario...), also having solid colors. Of course, I'll get right to adding a 16-bit palette version.

This is pretty cool. I'd suggest adding a set of sprites that maintains the original colors and shading from the Sonic CD sprite, a lot of the Mario Maker costumes have shading, and the original sprite wasn't shaded very much to begin with. The depth from the different shades in the original sprite made a big impact on the way you look at sonic in this sprite. With 1 shade per color, it gets a little trickier to look at it right. The best example I have is with Sonic's torso, it pops just as much as his head, making it easier to see the imperfections that couldn't be avoided due to the sprite's size.

@KBY30 not at all, it looks pretty good, dare I say almost better than the one they used.

That's the one I always wished they'd used, though if they did I wouldn't have minded them keeping it 16-bit.

@Snessy the duck
Is that a bad thing?
Is that a bad thing?

I can tell this was based on the small Sonic from CD.
