If you can't tell what they are, you just need your eyes checked, they're quite visible.
It's less a matter of making things "realistic" or "accurate to the Genesis games", but more of a matter of making things "legible". It's kind of hard to see what some of these items are, because they look washed out to me imho.

Sonic game's don't have to be that realistic. Plus, it's black in all the classic games afaik.
Nope, when a computer's on, and on a black screen, it's typically a dark grey, not straight black.
I agree with Technokami, I think having it be solid black would look better.
@Techokami What's the problem? They look fine to me. They're not complete black but most can't tell the difference.
The background color of the item cards are too bright...
@RTB looks like something I'd have made 9 or so years ago and had just discovered this site, only even worse XD. At most, it should probably have been specified as "Super Mario Land" or something, since Mario's appearance in that wasn't too great. But still better than this.
@DogeMayo Even the actual bootleg Sonic games on the GB were better than that! And bootleg sprites typically are "how to get your horrible customs/edits on TSR."
