This is not too bad at all.

@Wildwildwoody64 Both down to rights issues and it's not from Namco (Japanese companies tend to shy away old localisation stuff, Nintendo is sort of the exception otherwise names like Bowser would be looooooong gone).
After all it was Namco who pulled out from Midway as they milked the series "too much" (Ms. Pac-Man and Jr. Pac-Man who AtGames have the rights, Baby Pac-Man, Pac-Man Plus, Professor Pac-Man, plus related cartoons and merch) causing their own entries (Super Pac-Man, Pac & Pal) to flop. It was one of the reasons why Namco switched to Atari full time until the formation of Namco Hometek in the early 1990s while Europe had to wait until the mid 2000s (many companies published Namco's games until then). Now the main thing Bandai Namco acknowledges from the past is the Pac-Man name itself and a few other things.

Why didn’t they just use this in the ps1 original.
