Time to summon my inner Metroid nerd and state that Samus would need the Power Grip to even hold on to ledges or use monkey bars in the first place. The Fusion Suit can already do this since it's lightweight.
She did the same thing in Metroid Fusion actually. Samus climbs how she wants too.
@Ton: Video game logic doesn't have to make sense.
