I get tired of seeing the "YOU DO REALIZE X GAME ALREADY HAS X THING RIGHT?" comments very quickly.
Yes, I assume they are very much aware SMB1 has goombas. The first enemy you SEE is a goomba. I don't think you have to ask if they know the game already has them.
