Okey-dokey...?

thanks with these, the smb1 styled fornt-faced characters is coming

@DogToon64 Fleenstones???

nice recreation but shouldn't this be in the mario category? it's not like you recreated non-mario assets.

This is pretty cool, I really like this concept! I'd love to see more of this on different games

Can't wait for Dorkly or one of those other crappy "Mario" YouTubers to use these

@EmRuHire wasn't it called "every copy of smb1 is personalized".

Are the last ones supposed to be the jump?

I actually saw those signaling sprites in a video on Twitter before.
Yes, it was a Wario Apparition thing.

The True Front View Of The Famous SMB1 Mario.

I like that alot, you did real good on that.

@RaguRando the brown color on mario is acctually dark yellow

seriously Mario was going to have other sprites?

Kind of looks like Grand Dad

I didn't know he was going to use a more Donkey Kong palette. It would've made more sense if they went with these colours instead of the brown (green?) and yellow in the final version since it would've been true to his concept art at the time.
From what I could see in the Cutting Room Floor article, I'm surprised how violent the game was expected to be for the NES launch title. I know Mario ended up shooting/throwing fireballs for the only powerup, but it's bizzare to think that was going to define the whole game. Even Metroid and Mega Man had more focus on the platforming despite requiring the player to shoot.

I kinda prefer this version compared to the original
