Ignoring the lunatic chaos that has ocurred in most of the comments before this one..
How come it's just 2 sprites? If it's Mario & Luigi in this style (which in this case is just a restoration of the actual sprites used in Miami New Times), shouldn't we at least have a full sheet with various movements?
That aside, this is funny as heck and it caught me off-guard. Kudos for that.

this is so weird i can't help but laugh

@_FyreNova:

every day i find myself with less respect for this site than the day before

Looking back at this, it does give me a good laugh.

RTB has a good point. If they have to accept something silly from time to time: P
Regarding sonic exe.
To keep more or less the original design, the most you can do is: Put black eyes, red pupils, cry blood, new poses. Different color, blood on the body and a few other things, perhaps they are asking for a new character?

@oxygen you took the words right out of my mouth

what the fuck

I'm more confused as to why this isn't a sprite sheet of these designs and just two static illustrations

i like it. sue me

Why are we writing essays on funny haha weirdo brothers?

@RTB I personally have no beef with this couple of sprites, though I beg to differ on one thing: "Sonic.EXE" isn't an "original character," he's an idiotic and lazy stylization of Sonic, similar to Fleetway Super Sonic, but stupid. Additionally, I haven't a problem over the source being unofficial, but I don't want it to be misidentified as being so, as that's misleading.

Look. I shouldn't have to say this, but we (the staff) don't just blindly accept things on The VG Resource, we have our reasons for allowing things like this on the site. We discussed this particular submission for a while, and after some deliberation and considering the fact that this thing is technically semi-official (Miami New Times isn't Nintendo, sure, but it's an official news outlet so that's got to count for something, right?), and most of us found it amusing overall and decided to approve it.
Also, what about all of the ROM hacks and fan game submissions we have on the site already? Should those not be allowed because they're not official? Plus, I feel it's also necessary to bring up how you guys never complained about MisterMike's Terminal Montage-styled Kirby sheet, despite the fact that's not an official thing either... but apparently rabidbaboy's Kirby sheet is somehow offensive too despite being a wacky stylization of an existing character? Seriously? It was bad enough I had to purge the comments because it was just so demoralizing to look at.
So no, something like this existing this doesn't mean that we're just accepting OCs like Sonic.EXE or the 145th Undertale AU. We need silly things like this to keep spirits high at times like this, and as my dad would regularly quote, "Lighten up, Francis".

You guys ever hear of the saying "if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all"? You all need to seriously calm down. There is nothing objectively wrong with it. If you don't like it, scroll past, don't all come together and bash it like it's the plague. What has this community come to? It seems nobody likes anything silly or fun or out of the norm anymore. Also, our quality control is not "all over the place", it's called "encouraging creativity". Stop with the "how was this accepted" comments; we have our (good) reasons for accepting what we do, with the exception of when we occasionally overlook things. Anymore negative comments here and action will be taken. Please get over yourselves.

Ok but how was this accepted

o h

I have no idea of what im looking at.
