Smash trophies of course maintain that the green ones are the brave ones, and the red ones are the smart ones.

I remember reading the original manual for SMB1 and it jokingly said Red Koopa Troopas are too chicken to cross the edge, explaining why they turn around.

They're green in the official Shogakukan guide, but that hack also didn't bother to follow that on most accounts, so...

Huh, that's weird, EXEcutor-The-Bat. I haven't played that hack but I've seen some stuff on it.

I find it odd how in the Super Mario Land 2 Deluxe hack that they decided to make the Koopas green despite turning at cliffs. It's not a limitation thing either because the giant Koopa on the world map has a red shell.

@Doc von Schmeltwick, ha yeah. I forgot about the Super Mario 63 shells being harmless. That always threw me off! The koopas in general in SML2 always looked super harmless to me, even more so than other games' koopas. That gives me an idea. I might make SML2 koopas, but huge and monstrous! Or giant versions based on the SMB3 giant koopas. Maybe...

Yeah, they were weird, restrictive size parameters tend to lead to oddness. I'm always surprised in the game when a shell hurts me, because they just seem so slow and harmless, like the ones in the Super Mario 63 fangame. ^^;;

@Doc von Schmeltwick those look good, too! I'm probably going to update these in the future. I want to add detail to the shadowed back legs (similar to ones you have), as well as improve the shell only sprites, as I'm not to fond of how they're drawn in the original game. The detailing on the shells just look off to me.

Huh, I've had one of those for a while now that I never really did anything with.

Nice!

and the red ones are smart so they turn around.
